Mobian Tragedy

The Grand Staircase in the palace was a spectical to be seen.It was made of the 
finest material's on Mobius.From wood to stone ,plants were the main 
feature.Some were tended by the best gardeners on the planet,the majority were 
taken care of Alicia,Queen of Mobius from the house of Hailly.
Queen Alicia's passion was for plants.From the house plants on the staircase 
,too the big outdoor prominod the Queen loved weeding,seeding,watering,and 
transplanting all of the Mobian flowers that the palace and royal court was in 
posetion of.
Bernice loved to sit and watch the queen out in the garden.Often she would 
help,but her pation for plants was nothing compared to the queens.
"Honestly Bernie,"the queen commented,"you really need to get yourself a 
garden.They are wonderful!"
Bernie smiled,"I have enough of a garden here.Why should I start something that 
will probably die,when I can come here."
"Quite right my friend."
The Queen was tending to a Mobian Duffin,a purple flower with a large bloom that 
smelled like freshly baked lemon pie,which was in need of some weeding in the 
north corner of the prominod main garden.She and Bernie were keeling on the 
ground,each wearing idenical vests.
The queen felt comfortable wearing less,considering royality usually wore 
extavigantly made clothing,today she was wearing a blue vest.Bernie usually wore 
a heavy olive colored coat,but today she choose an orange vest in the same style 
as Alicia.
"How is Jules?Have you gotten word from his base?"The Queen turned up from her 
work.
"I have gotten no word from my husband or my brother.I don't understand this 
war."Bernice sighed.
"I share your pain.My love is always attending comferences,Both looked sad 
now.Th queen turned pack to the weeds,"I tire of this.Come lets go for a walk."
They rose and walked towards the main fountain.The path ,made of compacted 
granite,went around the fountain towards the gate.A more unattractive path made 
of mud brick went towards the sports field.Since the war began,the fields were 
not oftenly used.
"I got word from the doctor today,Jules is going to be a father."Bernie smiled.
"Oh how wonderful!Bernie you should have told me sooner!I am so happy!"Alicia 
hugged Bernie.The Queen was often over affectinate when it came to hugs.Bernie 
gasped for breath,but tried to hide it with an even broader smile.
"When should it be do?"
"I need to get more tests before I know.Hopefully Jules will be home then."
"I can't wait."
A sudden woosh of air caught their attention.
"BOMBERS!GET TO THE SHELTER!"A guard ran up to the queen and Bernice.They 
started running towards the saftey shield of the palace.
The ground shook and a blast from the above ships.Bits of dirt and grass flew 
into the air.The Trio had just dive into the saftey of the shield.The shield 
vaporized the dirt chunks.
"So much for my gardens."The Queen muttered.She hated the fact that her gardens 
were left out of the plan for the shields that covered the Palace and surronding 
royal buildings.
"Bernie!Alicia!Are you all right?"Sir Charles Hedgehog came from the direction 
of the royal science bulidings.
"Perfectly fine Chuck!"Bernie ran and gave her brother in law a hug.
"I thought you two were instructed to remain withen the range of the shield?"The 
young guard appered anoyed in his tone and body language.
"I hope you know that I can send you to the Devil's Gulag at the snap of a 
finger!"The Queens anoyance was displayed,thoughs he remained composed.
"I apologize my leige."
"I hope you do.Besides acording to the plans that I submited ,The gardens were 
part of the sheilded area."
The walk back to the palace was quiet and unsettling.Bernice found little 
comfort in the silence,usually she enjoyed a break from war or garden talk but 
not today.She missed the days were her and Jules would argue about which was 
more boring,Alicia's dicussion about a crocus or Charles speech about elctro 
matter converters,but those days were few and far between.
Since the war against the overlanders had begun,she saw less and less of her 
husband,and her home.Bernie saw more and more of the palace.Through invation 
,the Queen had brought most of her friend to apartments in the shielded area.The 
public were to remain in the sheilds set up throughout the city,but the shields 
were much stronger around the palace.
The overlanders often had the upper hand,but since the war ministery had gained 
the leadership of Julian,from the house of Ivo,the Mobians had fought back 
greatly.An Overlander himself,Julian was resquied by Charles and Jules from 
being killed by his own kind.The queen was never fond of him and he was never 
fond of her,that is probably why the garden was left out of the plans for the 
shielding.
"When should the Kings airship be landing?"The Queen turned to the young guard.
The young fox looked at an elctronic display he was holding,"Pending on how far 
they had to go to avoid those bombers,I estimate an hour."
"Mr.Prower escort my friend to her apartment,I am going to survey the 
damage."The Queen turned to walk back towards the scorched ground.
"Alicia please,they could return."Charles pleaded with his queen.
"You can return Charles to his lab also."The Queen ignored Charles and spoke 
directly to Avro Prower.
"Come on Chuck,she wont listen to you."Avro took Charles by the elbow and began 
to walk.Charles quickly pulled away and walked ,alone,to his lab.
"I heard that Avro."The Queen yelled,for she was quite a distance away.
The smell of burnt grass and plants was every where.Alicia bent down to brush of 
a bush that was covered with dirt.The area that was shot apon was not that 
damaged.Few shots were even fired,But that still bothered the queen.She hated 
the overlanders,Julian especially.
Something caught her eye.Something was hiding behind a bush,watching her.
"I know your there,so come out!"The Queen may not have a weapon but she was 
still leathal in hand to hand combat.
"There is no way to fool you."A familar voice called.
"Max!"The queen ran and hugged her husband,"When did you get back?"
"Just before the bombers,we landed in a safe zone.I expected you to be here."
"Come,Avro just took Bernie and Charles home.I wanted to see the fountain,but 
since you are here there is no need to."
"Excellent."
The royal hall was a seprate buliding intirely.It was decorated by the Queen and 
Bernie in their spare time.The chef's were preparing for the kings arrival and 
prepared a large feast.Joining the King and Queen for dinner was Avro and 
Melissa Prower,Bernie,Charles,Sarah D'coolette and her son Antoine.Antoine was 
only three ,but was always acting like and adult.
"Pazz de corney."Antoine's english was terrible,but understandable.
"Oui my son."Sarah was not french but she learnt it for her husband wanted 
Antooine to grow up and speek french.
"Is Julian comeing tonight?"The Queen asked ,trying not to show any signs of 
hatred when she spoke his name.
"Possibly."The King replied.
"You mean for certain."The large figure of Julian Ivo appered in the doorway.The 
Queen's eyes narrowed as he approached.
"How nice of you to join us Julian!"The King stood and motioned for Julian to 
sit in the emty chair to his right.
"My King and Queen,"Julian bowed,"I would be happy to dine with you and your 
friends."
"Hope you don't mistake them for food."The Queen muttered as Julian walked 
by.The King shot her a look that silenced the beginning of another quip.
"How are the plans for the war coming along."The King asked as a young Possom 
passed Julian a plate full of fine cuisine.
"The message we have devivered to the South connetinet was recived as 
planned.Their efforts will greatly assist our efforts."The Queen suddenly rose 
and walked away from the table.
"Alicia?"The King questioned.
"I'm done."she said dryly.The king motioned for Bernie to follow her,which she 
did.
Bernie foung the Queen sitting in the darkness of the grand stairwell.She was 
sitting on the first step,her more formal gown draped to the floor,the crown on 
her head resting on her lap as she stared at the ceiling.
"I hate that man."she mumbled as Bernie sat down by her.
"He is the reason we are going to win this war you know."Bernie commeneted.
"I know,but he is also the reason why I havent seen my husband the pass few 
weeks.He could remain here but no!"The Queen's head hung low,crying sounds were 
not far behind.
"Listen,"Bernie put her hand on Alicia's back,"I know that the war is hard on 
all of us.Look at me!The way things are shaping up Jules wont be around to even 
see our son."The Queen looked at her friend and felt full of herself.She knew 
that Jules was out fighting while her husband was being flown around with dozens 
of armed gaurds.
"I am..."She begun.
"Don't say it ,I know how you feel."The two embraced.
"Come on.Maybe we can find something to eat.I am still hungrey."Bernie pulled 
Alicia to her feet.
"Not me.Julian is so ugly I lost my appetite when he entered the city."
